At Aureate we have an evidence based approach to managing our dog's health. We vaccinate as directed by our veterinarian and follow provincial regulations regarding Rabies vaccination. Some clinical practices will offer pet owners the option of pulling titres on their dogs to assess their present level of immunity (antibody) to the disease. In the event that the dog has demonstrated a sufficient titre level to the disease then no vaccine is given.
While we respect that for some vaccination might be a hotly debated topic, for us we will always do the very best for our dogs and make decisions based on science. That said, we also feel it is only fair to disclose that some bloodlines seem more prone to experiencing adverse reactions from vaccines. The dogs in our Program and our pet homes as of yet have not experienced any adverse reactions, aside from injection site tenderness. As always vaccination schedules should be discussed with your local veterinarian so they can assess your individual whippet's risk and tailor their approach when appropriate.
All our adult dogs at Aureate receive both Core and Non-Core vaccines.
-IMRAB (Rabies vaccine every 3 years)
