Hopefully if you have been reading our posts you're coming to realize that whippets aren't like other dogs. Both with their air of independence being hounds and their keen attention to movement being sighthounds. If it moves, it could be game, if it runs it is GAME! What you might call motivation in humans, what makes us dream and goal set is called drive in whippets. In the simplest sense if you can turn on and tap into your whippet's natural drive you'll have a fabulous partnership at your fingertips, regardless of whether or not you pursue any dog sports. You'll also train better and start using positive reinforcement as opposed to corrective training. The more in-tune you are with your dog, the more engaged your dynamic is between the two of you the more fulfilled your relationship will be for both you.
